New Abstract Collection is Live!

New Abstract Collection is Live!

Good morning! I just wanted to let you all know that I have new art in my Etsy shop.

There is work from two different series of work, with more coming soon. Follow the link below to view what is available.

I hope you find something that will be beautiful in your home!

This series transported me on a journey of layers, mark making, and color. I was inspired by the idea of looking through thick fog and seeing only suggestions of what was around you. I fell in love with the process of building white paint on top of color on top of white and not really knowing what I would do next.

Each individual coat of paint makes me look deeper to previous marks: scratching in wet paint to reveal what is beneath, veils of white that hint at colors and shapes, crackled hues that seem to emerge from a mist. I hope you are inspired also to look beyond the surface and become aware of all the different textures and brushstrokes that make up these pieces.

This series was inspired by the contrast of deeper colors and white marks. The range of colors, in blue to purple and teal to dark green to almost black, evoke many images in my mind. Sometimes I see the depths of the oceans, while other moments make me think of the far reaches of space.

The mixing of these different hues makes me look through the layers to see what lies beneath. This was an exercise in letting go of perfection and precision, of allowing myself to be imperfect. I think the messy scrawl of the painted layers is a fitting backdrop for the more controlled white brushstrokes.

I’ve had a lot of fun creating these pieces. Giving myself permission to play, to explore, and to experiment has been a great learning experience and I am so happy with how these turned out.

Each of these pieces measures 8×8 and is painted on wood with acrylic paint, inks, graphite, and Stabilo. The sides are painted in colors that complement the piece.

I am so excited to share these with you!
